As a REALTOR®, I understand the level of trust and confidence homebuyers place in me when making one of the most important decisions of their lives. My approach is centered on truly understanding your goals and guiding you with clarity, strategy, and care every step of the way.

Before entering real estate, I dedicated over a decade of my life serving in the U.S. Army. That experience instilled in me discipline, accountability, and a strong commitment to serving others—qualities that now define how I operate in real estate. I take pride in going above and beyond to protect my clients’ interests and deliver results.

With a background in Computer Engineering, I bring a strong understanding of technology and data-driven strategies that help my clients gain a competitive edge. Whether it's identifying opportunities, navigating multiple-offer situations, or simplifying complex decisions, I ensure the process remains smooth and efficient.

I understand that buying a home can feel overwhelming at times, which is why I prioritize consistent communication and accessibility. My goal is to make sure you feel informed, confident, and supported throughout the entire journey.

When I’m not assisting clients, I enjoy spending time with my family, staying active, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally. When you work with me, you can feel confident knowing I will treat your goals as if they were my own.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing Matthew since we met through the Hackensack Chamber of Commerce 3 years ago, which at that time we were still both serving in the military. From day one, his commitment to clients—and especially fellow veterans—stood out. Matthew brings a unique perspective, understanding both service and the complexities of real estate. Whether you’re buying your first home or investing, he truly listens, educates, and advocates. His professionalism is matched by genuine care, ensuring you feel confident in every step. If you want someone who understands your journey and delivers results, Matthew is the realtor you want and need to get you home!

I reached out to Matthew Knighton to learn more about Police and Fire loan programs and the benefits available to first responders in New Jersey. He took the time to explain the different options, how they work, and what might make the most sense for my situation. 🏡 What I appreciated most was the honest guidance. There was no pressure, just real information and clarity. If you are a police officer, firefighter, veteran, or first responder thinking about buying a home, I highly recommend speaking with Matthew first. He understands our profession and the programs designed to support us. ⭐️

As both a banking professional and a parent in our local school community, I’ve had the opportunity to see Matthew Knighton’s commitment to financial education and real estate guidance firsthand. We discussed homebuying, financing, and even how probate court works when families inherit property in New Jersey. His knowledge of NJ real estate, estate matters, and financial planning is impressive. He takes the time to educate rather than simply transact, which is something our community truly needs.

Matthew Knighton came to our school to teach a financial literacy and credit education workshop for students. He covered credit building, budgeting, financial planning, and life insurance in a way that was easy to understand and directly applicable to real life. As someone from a military family, I connected with his message about financial discipline and protecting your future. Financial literacy and financial education are topics that should be taught more consistently in schools. This was one of the most practical and valuable student workshops we’ve had.

Loyalty

The experience I provide to my clients goes far beyond a single transaction. Buying a home is one of the largest financial decisions you’ll make, and you deserve guidance built on trust, communication, and a genuine commitment to your success.

I believe in building long-term relationships—not just helping you purchase a home today, but being a resource for you and your family for years to come. When you work with me, you can expect honest advice, strong advocacy, and a team that stands behind you every step of the way.
Reviewing each other’s roles and responsibilities as we embark on the next steps together is how we can decide if we are ready to move forward together.

Processes

1

Consultation

We’ll sit down and map out your goals, budget, and timeline. This is where I learn exactly what you’re looking for and build a strategy to help you succeed in today’s market.
Image

2

Pre-Approval

Getting pre-approved will help you know exactly what you can afford so you can confidently focus on the right homes. Plus, it shows sellers you’re serious, giving you an edge when making an offer.
Image

3

Property tours

Once we identify the right homes, we’ll schedule tours and evaluate each property together. I’ll help you look beyond the surface and make informed decisions based on value, condition, and long-term potential.
Image

4

Write offer

When we find the right home, we’ll submit a strong and strategic offer tailored to the situation. This includes price, terms, contingencies, and positioning to help you stand out—especially in competitive scenarios.
Image

5

Offer Acceptance: Attorney Review & Under Contract

Once your offer is accepted, we enter Attorney Review (specific to New Jersey), where contracts can be reviewed, modified, and finalized by the attorneys. Once completed, you are officially under contract and we move forward with the next steps in the process.
Image

6

Inspection

We’ll schedule inspections to evaluate the condition of the home. If any issues arise, we’ll negotiate repairs or credits to ensure you’re protected moving forward.
Image

7

Appraisal

Through your lender, you will order an appraisal to confirm the home’s value. If the appraisal comes in lower than the purchase price, I’ll help guide you through your options and next steps.
Image

8

Closing

Closing day is when ownership officially transfers. You’ll sign final documents, receive the keys, and officially become a homeowner. I’ll be there to guide you through the final steps and beyond.

What Buyers Need To Know About The National Association Of Realtors (NAR) Changes

Image

Starting August 17th, 2024

Buyers are now required to sign a written agreement before touring homes with a real estate agent. This ensures you understand how representation works and what services you’ll receive.
Image

What This Means for You

By signing a Buyer Representation Agreement, you are choosing to work with a dedicated professional who is committed to guiding you, protecting your interests, and helping you find the right home.
Image

Why This Matters

Having the right agent in your corner gives you a strategic advantage—from navigating the market to negotiating the best possible terms and ensuring nothing is overlooked.

Signing a Buyers Broker Agreement or BBA

  • This agreement allows you to formally work with a real estate professional to consult, tour homes, negotiate, and advocate on your behalf
  • It outlines the length of the agreement and the scope of services provided
  • It clearly defines the responsibilities of both you and your agent
  • It explains how representation works and what to expect throughout the process
  • It provides transparency on how agents are compensated and what options are available
